Schools closed now, too

EASTERN ONTARIO — In a move rarely seen, the Upper Canada District and Catholic District of Eastern Ontario school boards are closing their schools today in advance of an anticipated heavy winter snowfall forecast for later today.

Buses were cancelled earlier by the transportation entity serving both boards, Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario. Traditionally, however, schools remain open during ‘snow days,’ and a minority of students still typically attend because they can walk or are brought to school in private vehicles on those days.

It’s rare for schools to close on snow days, doubly so in advance of a storm.
