ST-ISIDORE — The North Dundas Rockets took their first game of the 2019 playoffs, beating the Eagles 4-3 in overtime last night.
Playing at home in their St-Isidore nest, the Eagles opened up scoring in the second frame and led 1-0 as the period ended.
But the North Dundas squad came back with three in the third, while St-Isidore potted two more — putting the rivals at 3-3 as regular time ended.
The game was decided in double overtime when the Rockets’ Jarret Williams finally flicked one past Eagles goalie Dawson Irving.
The teams meet again tonight for Game 2 in Chesterville; puck drops at 8 p.m.
Looking forward to another Rockets’ playoff run

As General Manager I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I said I wasn’t disappointed in the where our team finished this season in the standings, the expectations were much higher on our end. Unfortunately; if there was a formula that guaranteed success then everyone would use it. A combination of injuries, commitment, work and school has all come into play over the season, but we are hoping with the playoffs starting that this club should be in good shape to compete and make another run this year.
With a roster that boasts nine players who have junior A experience and a core that was present for last years run; there is no reason to believe that this team can’t rise to the occasion and compete for a championship; the ultimate question will be, how much do they want it? and how much are the guys on this team willing to sacrifice to achieve success as a group. Over the course of the season our individual bad habits have been destructive at times; it’s almost like we have too much talent. The organization is hoping these young men can come together starting this Friday night in St-Isidore. As the GM of this team I BELIEVE THEY CAN!
The organization would also like to thank all those who have come out to support us at the rinks throughout the season and our sponsors who are the reason this team is an operational success.
I would also like to thank Lee Bowers and Brandon Cousineau from the Township who have really helped us work out a difficult ice schedule with their tremendous willingness to help.
The First playoff home game will be Saturday night February 23, 2019 at 7:30pm in Chesterville, beverages, gossip and some good local hockey entertainment is on the agenda.
See you at the rink!
