MOUNTAIN— The Dundas County Green Food Box is expanding its order and pick-up locations in both North and South Dundas.

Beginning this month, J.W. MacIntosh Seniors’ Support Centre in Williamsburg is acting as an order and pick-up location for the South Dundas Green Food Box . Earlier this year, Happy Face Nursery School in Chesterville and in South Mountain also joined the team as an order and pick-up site for North Dundas.

Facilitated by Linking Hands Dundas County, the program offers participants an opportunity to purchase quality produce at wholesale prices. The program includes a small bag at $10, which generally contains seven to 10 different types of fruits or vegetables, and a large bag at $15, which includes the same plus another two to three different types of produce.

The South Dundas program pick-up date is the second Wednesday of the month with order locations at the South Dundas branches of SDG Library, Community Living Dundas County, Community Food Share, Happy Face Nursery School in Morrisburg, Mustard’s Variety in Iroquois, Dundas County Hospice, House of Lazarus, and, now J.W. MacIntosh Seniors’ Support Centre.

The North Dundas program pick-up date is the fourth Wednesday of the month with order locations at the North Dundas branches of SDG Library, Carefor Nor-Dun Seniors’ Support Centre, Township of North Dundas office, Chesterville’s Flair with Fabrics, House of Lazarus, and, the most recent additions, Happy Face Nursery School in both Chesterville and South Mountain.

All money collected is used to purchase bulk produce from local wholesaler, J. Quattrocchi & Co Ltd. In addition to two House of Lazarus employees, the entire program is run with the assistance of multiple volunteers at all stages of the process.

“This program is possible because of our many volunteers,” Linking Hands Coordinator Sandy Casselman said. “I would invite anyone interested in volunteering to contact House of Lazarus Volunteer Coordinator Vicki Cane at vcane@houseoflazarus.com.”
