Keep civic numbers clear

NORTH DUNDAS — Chesterville’s Fire Prevention Officer reminds area residents to not bury their civic address numbers when digging out during the remainder of this winter.

Forwarded with that advice were some photos that, although not taken locally, deftly illustrate the potential issue.

Outside of the major villages, rural Dundas County didn’t even get civic address numbers until the debut of 911 service in the early 1990s. Today, the different styles and numbering systems of civic address signs dotting the landscape are a reminder of the pre-amalgamation municipalities that haven’t existed since 1997.
