SOUTH STORMONT — A 23-year-old South Stormont man has been charged in connection with physical assaults on two children and his spouse — an incident that sent a “young female” child to hospital with “serious but non-life threatening injuries,” according to the SD&G OPP.

The unnamed man was arrested March 26, following a police investigation launched when officers responded to a South Stormont address shortly after midnight on March 25.

According to the local detachment, that investigation revealed that the man “was alleged to have assaulted his spouse, his step-son and his step daughter, and that he was also in contravention of a probation order.”

The young male child “received minor injuries and did not attend hospital,” police say.

The accused, whose identity has not been revealed in order to protect the victims, has been charged with two counts of assault, a count of aggravated assault and two counts of failing to comply with his probation terms.

The accused, whose case attracted considerable attention on social media prior to his arrest, was held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall court.

The arrest was captured on Facebook,  below.
