OTTAWA — The camera was watching.

A McDonald’s restaurant customer was “Lovin’ it” after the female patron ahead of him forgot her purse on the counter after completing her purchase.

Soon after, the unknown suspect approached the counter, ordered food, and while waiting, looked through the abandoned purse. An undisclosed amount of money and identity cards were taken while the employee had her back turned to him. The male suspect completed his purchase and left the counter, leaving the purse behind.

The suspect is described as a black male, thin build with short black hair. He was wearing a white baseball cap with NY sign in front, striped scarf (colours are grey, white, maroon), black shirt with white logo on the left chest side, ¾ dark beige jacket, and light-coloured jeans (see the video and picture.)

Police say the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m., at the 1000 block of St-Laurent Blvd, on February 2. The detachment released images and video today (as seen above) of the man they’re looking for. The clip shows the suspect clearly enjoying himself at the burger joint counter.
