KEMPTVILLE — A North Dundas man stands accused of sexually assaulting a woman in North Grenville — an event alleged to have taken place while the accused was on probation.
The OPP’s Kemptville detachment and Grenville County Crime Unit charged Jeremy Welsh, 21, April 27, following an investigation involving an adult female victim. Police describe the matter as an “isolated incident” and “no danger to public safety.”
Welsh is charged with sexual assault, assault and failing to comply with a probation order, according to police.
Grenville County OPP Const. Suzanne Runciman confirmed the man is the same individual earlier accused of breaching his probation following his April 17 arrest in Morrisburg on charges of mischief and entering a dwelling illegally. Welsh was released to appear May 7 in Morrisburg court in that South Dundas case.
On his latest charges in North Grenville, the accused was being held for bail in the city of Brockville, as of April 27.
The charges have prompted the Grenville County OPP to remind victims of sexual assault that they “are not alone. If you need support or know someone that does, there are local resources available to help. A toll free call can also be placed to the Assaulted Women’s Helpline at 1-866-863-0511 where your information will remain anonymous and confidential. If you are in an immediate crisis, dial 9-1-1.”
