Woman injured after vehicle hit Hydro pole North of Winchester; power goes out for more than 230 Hydro customers

WINCHESTER — A two-vehicle collision cut power to more than 230 customers shortly before 3:40 p.m. last night. The crash occurred on the corner of Spruit and Country Rd. 31 just North of Ben’s Gas Bar in Winchester. SD&G OPP Constable Tylor Copeland confirms, “It was a two vehicle crash, the car in the photo struck the pole following the collision with the other vehicle — an SUV. The driver of the car was charged under the Highway traffic act – fail to yield – uncontrolled intersection. The 72-year-old female driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

“The driver of the SUV was not injured, ” he added.

Hydro One estimated it would take until 11:30 last evening to restore power.

The area affected by the outage, according to Hydro One’s outage map website.

Four Hydro One trucks and their crews were working on scene at the site north of the Pioneer gas station before 9:30 p.m. The outage involved a triangular area north of Winchester along 31, approaching Morewood.
