Last Monday, April 29, North Dundas had an electrical fire in the electrical panel around 10pm. No one was injured in any way, but this meant the school would suffer a power loss that would last until Saturday, May 4. This made the school unsafe for both students and staff, so school was cancelled the rest of the week. Obviously, this was not ideal, and many activities were affected, but we wanted to ensure there was no risk to students or staff. ND would like to thank all the parents, staff, and students for their patience. Since this power outage cancelled all after school activities, many dates have been changed.
The Fashion Show, scheduled to take place on Wed., May 8, will now take place on Wed., May 15. It will take place in Block D, from 12:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will no longer be a night show for parents. Anyone who purchased a ticket for $10 and cannot make the new show date will be given a refund, but the ticket must be shown to receive a reimbursement. Tickets are available for $5 to attend the new show time. If anyone has questions, you can text Chloe Ziegler at 613-806-9735. The Community Concert that was set to take place on Sat., May 4, will now take place Fri., May 10. It will still be held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Winchester and will take place at 7 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and a bake sale during the concert.
The small household items and clothing drive will continue this week until Friday, May 10. Items brought in will be donated to the House of Lazarus and Ye Olde Bargain Shoppe. The WE team is hosting a Mother’s Day Trivia challenge on Friday as well, to raise money and awareness for the Naomi Resource Centre.
Prom ticket sales have been extended until Thurs., May 9. The ticket price is $45, and you must have all your volunteer hours in to purchase the tickets. If you haven’t yet picked up your 2017-2018 yearbook, you can pick them up at lunch at the prom ticket table.
Once again, we would like to thank everyone for all for your patience. We realize it was a trying time, and you may still have questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the school at 613-448-2328.
