SDG Counties — Today, May 21, marks the official 2019 launch of the popular SDG Library program, SDG Reads. In its fifth year, the community book club will feature bestselling Canadian author, Kelley Armstrong, and her thriller “Rockton” series.
The announcement of the 2019 author selection was made following this morning’s meeting of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry County Council. In what has become a tradition for the launch of the program, two large “books” were unwrapped by Frank Prevost, Library Board Chair, and Lyle Warden, member of the Library Board.
“It’s our fifth year for the program and we’re excited about how interest in the program keeps growing,” stated Karen Franklin, Director of Library Services. “This year we are doing something different and focusing on a whole series instead of just one book – participants have the choice to read one or all of the titles in the series between now and October.”
The 2019 SDG Reads program focuses on the “Rockton” series by Ms. Armstrong. This mystery series, currently comprised of four books, takes place in a fictional town in the Yukon, where all the residents are on the run from their pasts.
The program will run from now until October and includes a final event featuring a visit from the author. Kelley Armstrong is scheduled to visit SDG on Wednesday, October 23 at 6 p.m. As in previous years, the event will be free, but seating will be limited, and tickets will be required.
Books from the 2019 SDG Reads featured series are available for loan to individuals and book clubs, and will be available for sale very shortly, from all branches of the SDG Library.
