Stolen tractor and hay wagon
SOUTH STORMONT — A 1998 AGCO Allis 5670 orange and black tractor with front end loader along with a red Gerber 24′ hay wagon were stolen this week from a South Stormont property.
SD&G OPP officers responded when the theft was noticed May 22 — possibly a number of days after the thieves made off with the tractor and wagon from the Bush Glen Rd. address.
Threats and weapons charges laid in South Dundas
SOUTH DUNDAS — A 47-year-old Cardinal man and a 19-year-old South Dundas woman are facing a number of charges following a May 21 disturbance on Victoria Park Crescent in Morrisburg.
SD&G OPP officers responded to the scene shortly before 11:45 a.m. The ensuing investigation turned up a weapon and determined that threats were made against an adult male whose home was also damaged.
Following the incident, police received a report that an adult female entered the same home unlawfully.
The allegedly involved individuals were subsequently located and arrested.
Charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, uttering threats (two counts), mischief, and intimidation, Richard Coville, 47, was released to appear June 18 in Cornwall court.
Charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, and unlawfully in dwelling house, Bayleigh Coville, 19, was released to appear the same day in the same court.
Charges for Quebec duo after fraudulent items seized during traffic stop
SOUTH STORMONT — Police seized several fraudulent cards and an instrument to copy credit cards from a man and a woman, May 21, leading to their arrest on identity-theft and numerous other charges.
The duo were apprehended after an SD&G OPP officer stopped their vehicle for a traffic violation shortly before 10:50 p.m. in South Stormont.
The initial investigation revealed the male driver was breaching previous release conditions, which prompted police discover the other items in the vehicle.
According to the detachment, Kenley Barthelus-Simeon, 22, of Verdun, Que., is charged with: possessing an instrument for use in copying credit cards; identity theft (7 counts); fail to comply with conditions of a probation order ( 7 counts); and fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance (3 counts).
Rebecca Roberge, 19, of Laurierville, Que., is charged with: possessing an instrument for use in copying credit cards; identity theft (7 counts), fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance (4 counts), and possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000.
Both were held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall.
Suspicious persons charged in South Stormont
SOUTH STORMONT — The presence of unwanted suspicious persons at a South Stormont property drew SD&G OPP officers to the address May 23, where a man and a woman are alleged to have given them false identification.
The incident occurred when police were called to the scene around 9:45 a.m.
Arrested were Jacob Benoit, 20, and Nancy Waldrif, 26, both residents of Cornwall, according to the detachment.
Benoit is charged with: personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice; obstruct peace officer; and fail to comply with conditions of a probation order. He was released to appear June 27 in Cornwall court.
Charged with personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice, Waldrif was released to appear June 18 in Cornwall court.
Roundabout crash leads to impaired charges
SOUTH STORMONT — A single-motor vehicle collision at a Long Sault roundabout has led to alcohol-impaired driving charges for a South Dundas man.
The crash occurred before 3 a.m at the Mille Roches Rd. and County Rd. 2 roundabout, according to the SD&G OPP. Officers responding to the scene determined the driver to be under the influence, arresting 30-year-old Cody Hostrawser.
The South Dundas resident was released to appear June 30 in Cornwall court.
