CORNWALL — For 30 years groups of children have had the opportunity to gather at a special place to use their imagination and to practice the ancient art of storytelling. This summer Dream Maker will be offering an opportunity for kids to do just that. The program features many aspects of stage acting, filmmaking, music performance and the arts. The young actors will perform in a well-rounded arts program that will teach them improvisation, speech projection, make-up, role playing, scene development, making their own TV show as well as recording and making their own music video using state of the art cameras, This part of the camp will be using many special effects from Pixel Films, most of which you have seen on the latest theatrical releases. The young actors will also be performing scenes from Disney’s ‘Lion King’. A show that the group will be producing later this year. But it isn’t all acting up. There are many other fun activities like swimming, sports in the park, as well as a well rounded Arts program, and on the last day all the young actors will perform a live stage show for family and friends.
Many local kids have gone on from the group to perform in movies, TV and the professional stage (Ryan Gosling, Ron Thompson, Tyler Murree and Stefanie True to name just a few….) “But the real positive message is what we hear from schools and educators,” states Lisa Runions. “Over the years we’ve been told by teachers that many of these kids come back to their class with a new found confidence.” In short, this is a great summer experience the only of its kind!
The camps will take place at the Cornwall Civic Complex; July 1-5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and; July 8-12 from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information or to register please call (613) 932-3510 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
