Outhouse set on fire; male nearly hits two cop cars; thieves target empty property

NORTH AUGUSTA — Police are seeking the public’s help with information after an outhouse had been set on fire during the Wheels a Churning event on June 2, at 5 p.m. Grenville OPP officers responded to a report of the fire on Dixon Rd., Augusta Township. No one was injured during the incident. Investigation is still ongoing and police are seeking the public’s help with any information in relation to this event. 

Reckless Driving

A vehicle was exiting Dixon lane when it nearly struck two police officer’s vehicles that were patrolling on County Road 15, Augusta Township around 7:30 a.m. on June 2. Officers on the scene carried out a traffic stop and driver Juan Gauthier, 31, from Ste-Anne-Des-Plaines, Quebec was charged with the following:

  • Careless Driving s.130(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Speeding s.128 HTA
  • Fail to Signal s.182(1) HTA
  • Insecure Load s.111 (20) HTA
  • Fail to have valid insurance card s.3(1) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)

Thieves Target Empty Property 

NORTH GRENVILLE  A break in occurred at a property on McGovern Road, North Grenville, around 5 p.m. on June 3. Investigation indicated that sometime overnight, culprits entered and stole electronic equipment from an empty property. Residents are asked to be on the lookout for anything or anyone suspicious hanging around the area.
