AVONMORE — Ontario’s government has approved the construction of a five-classroom addition for students attending Roxmore Public School. A separate addition will also include a one room child care centre for local families.

“This addition to Roxmore Public School is great news for Avonmore,” said Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “Our government is proud to support this project to protect the services that matter most to families in our community.”

The new classrooms will feature space for more than 110 elementary students from junior kindergarten to Grade 6. Families in the area will also benefit from the new child care room with space for 15 children.

“Investing in new school infrastructure is an important part of our plan to build a modern education system that puts children, students and families first. The new school facilities will help ensure students get the best learning experience, and more child care spaces will give Avonmore families increased options for high-quality child care in their community,” said Lisa Thompson, Ontario Minister of Education.

Ontario recently announced Education that Works for You, a new plan to modernize curriculum, modernize classrooms and empower educators to better prepare students for the realities of today’s modern world. By supporting new schools and child care spaces, the government is helping education work for communities like Avonmore as part of a plan to deliver the world-class education system that our students deserve.
