Male charged with multiple public sexual offences involving teenage girls

OTTAWA — A 39-year-old male has been charged with multiple sexual offences after several incidents involving inappropriate engagements in public places with teenage girls, this morning.

An investigation was launched by police on May 28, after several female victims came forward individually to Ottawa Police reporting that they had been watched and approached by a male while walking in public areas.

In one of the incidents the male put his arm around a girl who is under the age of 16 and attempted to kiss her. This occurred in the 2000 block of Ogilvie Rd on May 27. On May 28, the same suspect approached teenage females walking alone on two separate occasions.  This occurred in the Rockcliffe Park area. The male told one of the females that he was a taxi and offered her a ride. He also told the females that he worked for a modelling agency.

The male was described as a Middle Eastern male with an Arabic accent, dark hair and a full beard. He was driving a white Toyota SUV.

The Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit has charged Salim Bardakji, of Ottawa with one count of Sexual Assault, one count of Indecent Act, two counts of Criminal Harassment and four counts of Mischief.

He has also been identified by Ottawa Police after another incident where he was exposing himself in a public park in Orleans on June 7.

He is to appear in show cause court today.

Investigators believe that there may be other victims and are asking them to contact police.
