Attempted theft of leaf blower, chainsaw in Winchester; thieves scoop up South Dundas backhoe

WINCHESTER — A witness watched as an individual brazenly grabbed a chainsaw and leaf blower from a York Street property, prompting a 5 p.m. call to the SD&G OPP on June 15.

The witness also confronted the culprit, who ran away. But officers managed to locate the suspect after arriving on scene.

Police say their investigation also determined the would-be thief had threatened another female at the location.

The SD&G OPP reports the arrest of Roxanne Hanson, 20, of North Dundas. She’s charged with theft under $5,000, uttering threats and four counts of failing to comply with probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall.

Backhoe stolen

SOUTH DUNDAS — A thief or thieves  scooped up a backhoe in South Dundas.

Yellow in colour, the 2013 Case 580SN disappeared from a Prospect Rd. property sometime overnight, June 13-14, according to the SD&G OPP.

South Dundas Break-in

SOUTH DUNDAS — A number of power tools were stolen overnight, June 14-15, from the garage at a Rowen Rd. residence.

The SD&G OPP was advised of the break-in the following afternoon. Officers continue to investigate.

Impaired driver

SOUTH STORMONT — A single-vehicle collision on Aultsville Rd. led to the arrest of a driver on alcohol-impaired driving charges on June 14.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the incident shortly before 10:55 a.m., arresting Randy McKay, 52, of Chassell, Michigan.

He was released to appear June 16 in Cornwall court.

South Glengarry break-in

SOUTH GLENGARRY — Multiple power tools were stolen overnight, June 15-16, from a shed at a residential property on Concession Rd. 3.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the break-in the following afternoon.
