OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit and the O.P.P. Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a federal offender wanted for two bank robberies in Ottawa in recent days.
On June 24, 10 a.m., Kirk Nichol attended a bank the 300 block of Montreal Road, passed a note to the teller demanding cash and threatened to start shooting. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries and no weapons were seen.
Shortly before 10 a.m. on June 27, Kirk Nichol entered a bank along the 200 block of Rideau Street, pointed a firearm at the teller and demanded cash. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries to any employees.
In addition to these two bank robberies, Kirk Nichol is wanted by the O.P.P. on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching conditions of his statutory release. He is serving an eleven 11 year, five month sentence for Robbery and other firearms-related offences.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
Kirk Nichol, 61, is described as a white male, 6’2 (188 cm), 200lbs (91 kg) with grey-brown hair (balding) and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on forearms, right upper arm, chest and a scar on his forehead.
