IROQUOIS — A head-on collision west of Iroquois closed County Rd. 2 for much of the day yesterday as police processed the scene of the crash that sent five people to hospital.

The event occurred around 1:55 p.m. when, for reasons still under investigation, an eastbound passenger vehicle collided with a westbound SUV between Marine Station Rd. and Binion Rd.

The adult male driver of the eastbound driver sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported off scene by air ambulance. Four people in the SUV, including the driver, were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detours were in place for hours as the SD&G OPP officers and OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) did their work. County Rd. 2 has since re-opened.
