North Dundas man facing multiple charges after vehicle flees police

NORTH DUNDAS — A North Dundas man faces a number of Criminal Code charges after events involving two police forces in the wee hours of the morning, Aug. 6.

SD&G OPP officers eventually apprehended Jessie Sharko, 32, after spotting a vehicle around 2:35 a.m. The vehicle was alleged to have been involved in an earlier “interaction” with Ottawa Police.

The lone male at the wheel of the vehicle attempted to flee, damaging one OPP vehicle in the process. T hemotorist continued on, but the officers ultimately located him at a location near his residence.

According to the detachment, Sharko, is charged with: Assault peace officer with a Weapon; Dangerous Operation of A Motor Vehicle; Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by drug; and Flight from Peace Officer.

The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing at Cornwall court.

Break-in

CHESTERVILLE — Power and hand tools were stolen from a Joseph Street address. 

The thief or thieves entered the Chesterville residence sometime during the several days leading up to Aug. 3, when the crime was reported to the SD&G OPP. 

Impaired charges  in South Stormont

SOUTH DUNDAS — A South Stormont man faces alcohol-impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle collision Aug. 5.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the Anderson Rd. scene around 2:10 a.m. The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The detachment reports the arrest of Cameron Kennedy, 25, of South Stormont. The accused was released to appear Aug. 29 in Cornwall court.

Impaired charges, failing to remain charges in South Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT — The SD&G OPP has charged a man with alcohol-impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision on County Rd. 2.

A traffic complaint led officers to the scene shortly before 7:20 p.m. The detachment reports the arrest of Michael McCoy, 58, of Cornwall.

In addition to impaired charges, McCody is accused of the Highway Traffic Act offences of failing to remain at the scene of a collision, failing to report damage to property and failing to report an accident, according to the SD&G OPP. He’s due in Cornwall court on Aug. 22.

Stolen car

SOUTH GLENGARRY — A light blue 2008 Chrysler 300 was stolen from Marlborough Rd. in Maxville on Aug. 3, taken sometime during the hours before the crime was reported to the SD&G OPP that evening.

The missing car bore Ontario licence plate BEMW 438.

Impaired driving charges in South Glengarry

SOUTH GLENGARRY — SD&G OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint on South Service Road, South Glengarry, shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, arresting Evelyn Lindhorst, 67.

Released to appear Aug. 22 in Cornwall court, Lindhorst, a South Glengarry resident, is charged with alcohol-impaired driving. 

295 calls for service

SDG — The SD&G OPP reports investigating several incidents after responding to 295 calls for service between Aug. 2 and Aug. 6. 

During that five-day period, officers with the detachment dealt with: 23 motor-vehicle collisions: 32 calls for police assistance; fifty-one 911 calls; 36 traffic complaints; 17 traffic hazards; 15 traffic enforcement occurrences; four domestic disputes; five thefts; 10 suspicious activity calls; three family disputes; four assault calls; five mental health calls; two community service calls; nine alarms; one landlord tenant dispute; three animal complaints; five liquor licence calls; one threat call; one fraud call; three mischief calls; one missing person call; five ride occurrences; one drug-related call; one neighbour disputes; six fire calls; three break and enters; and two unwanted person calls.
