SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers are currently dealing with a situation on Dafoe Road, and the detachment advises to public to avoid the area due to the “ongoing investigation” at the site in South Stormont Township.

NVN witnessed an ambulance leaving the scene, on the north side of Dafoe, just east of barricades set up at the intersection with Aultsville Rd. Four cruisers were parked at the location. A long stretch of Dafoe Rd. is closed while the police continue to process the scene.

A South Stormont Township backhoe and operator waited at the corner and were getting to proceed down Dafoe Rd. as the ambulance left. The operator told NVN that he was there to repair damage done to the road by a man driving a tractor.

SD&G OPP have provided no estimate on when the road will re-open, adding in a press release that “no further information is available at this time” about this incident.

Update: SD&G OPP responded to a mischief complaint on Dafoe Road in South Stormont around 5:30 a.m. on Monday September 23.

Shortly after officers arrived, the 65 year-old individual had an interaction with police. The Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and SD&G OPP officers arrested the individual. During the arrest the individual sustained non-life threatening injury and was transported to hospital.

The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
