Home invasion in South Glengarry
SOUTH GLENGARRY — Armed robbers broke into a South Glengarry home, assaulted an adult male resident with a weapon, then stole items from the house before fleeing in a vehicle.
The SD&G OPP quickly apprehended and arrested three men and a woman after responding to the Sept. 20 home invasion shortly before 8 p.m.
Officers headed to the involved address saw the getaway vehicle with four suspects inside. The vehicle refused to pull over, but officers managed to stop it soon afterward in the area of County Rd. 18.
Police say Alan Vuong, 36, of Ottawa, is charged with:
• Robbery with weapon
• Assault with weapon
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Flight from Peace officer
• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
• Dangerous operation
• Possession of a controlled substance
Police say Erba Beyecha, 29, of Ottawa, is charged with:
• Robbery with weapon
• Assault with weapon
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Police say Ahmed Hifato, 30, of Ottawa, is charged with:
• Robbery with weapon
• Assault with weapon
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Police say the lone female in the group, Hannan Daghar, 27, of Scarborough, is charged with:
• Robbery with weapon
• Assault with weapon
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
All four accused were held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
The male victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
Indecent exhibition alleged in North Stormont
NORTH STORMONT — The SD&G OPP arrested a North Stormont man who was reported to have exposed himself in public on Sept. 21.
Officers responded shortly after 8:30 a.m. to the scene where the man was also “harassing and causing a disturbance at the location,” according to the detachment, which also confirms the incident involved the Nation Rise Wind Farm project.
Police say that Randy Lamb, 52, of North Stormont is charged with indecent exhibition and causing a disturbance.
The accused was released to appear Nov. 19 in Cornwall court.
Accused impaired driver breaks into home, assaults man
SOUTH GLENGARRY — A driver impaired by drugs and alcohol crashed his vehicle, then broke into a nearby home and assaulted a man inside, according the SD&G OPP.
Officers responded shortly after 11:15 p.m. to the Sept. 20 scene on Farlinger Drive, where they located the motorist — who had fled the home back to his crashed vehicle. It was a single-vehicle collision, according to the detachment, which reports the arrest of 35-year-old Mario Gialis of Laval, Que.
Police say Gialis is charged with: Assault; Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; Break and Enter; and Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order (two counts).
The accused was released to appear Nov. 6 in Alexandria court.
The male victim was not physically injured.
