Fraud over $5,000 alleged in online dating case that victimized Edwardsburgh/Cardinal resident

EDWARDSBURGH — An Edwardsburgh/Cardinal resident lost “a substantial amount” to an alleged online dating fraudster who has been arrested, according to the Grenville County OPP.

The detachment began investigating Oct. 18 after the reported fraud in which the accused would collect money from the victim in person.

Nosa Oriakhi, 33, of North York was arrested and faces a charge of fraud over $5,000, according to police.

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear in Brockville court.
