NATION VALLEY — South Nation Conservation (SNC) has issued a Water Safety Statement for its jurisdiction in Eastern Ontario.

With significant rainfall of 30 to 50mm forecast between today and Nov. 1st, water levels across the watershed are expected to rise beyond their currently normal levels.

The rain is “likely to produce high water levels and possible nuisance flooding in low-lying areas across the jurisdiction,” says the local watershed authority.

Residents are advised to exercise caution when near rivers as the anticipated weather may rapidly increase river flows and cause slippery riverbanks. Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.

The statement is in effect until Friday, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m.
