Canada’s “first November 11th” was the Battle of Crysler’s Farm, fought right here on home soil just east of Morrisburg on that day in 1813. In an annual tradition, locals gathered early on Remembrance Day this morning to mark the pivotal “Battle that Saved Canada” 206 years ago, at the site of the monument near the actual battleground just outside Upper Canada Village.
