CHESTERVILLE — Some excitement at Mike Dean’s during noon hour today as a $100,000 lottery ticket was sold and redeemed by the local retailer.
The bells and whistles went off on the ticket machine as soon as a man scanned his Lotto 6/49 and Encore ticket around 12:30 — as NVN happened to witness at that moment.
Proprietor Gordon Dean said it’s the fourth time the store has seen a win of that size, although it’s been “at least a decade” since the last one.
A regular customer at the local retailer, the latest winner had bought the ticket at the store earlier, according to Dean.
The sum involved required the store to immediately call the OLG to confirm some details. “Then they will call him at home to complete the process,” said Dean, adding he was “glad to see someone here in town win it, and somebody that could probably use the money.”
