CORNWALL — United Way/Centraide of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry is thrilled to announce that the seventh annual Holiday Wine & Gourmet Tastings event sponsored by Xplornet Communications Inc. has broken our fundraising records and has proven to be the most successful signature event to date! We are pleased to announce this event raised $73,000 (net) for our community.

Moving forward the United Way/Centraide of SD&G would like to focus on collaborating with its 16 partner agencies to make sure this money is invested in the right kind of long-term social change that our community needs. “Every dollar, every donation, every volunteer hour that was given to this event launches us further into making necessary changes and opportunities for our community’s most vulnerable population, said Juliette Labossière, Executive Director for the United Way/Centraide of SD&G. “The United Way/Centraide of SD&G guarantees that all of the money that we fundraise stays local in Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry. I am so proud of what our Wine Committee did for our Community during this one night. I am so proud to be part of this extremely generous community that came out and supported our event.“

The event was held Saturday, November 23 at the NAV Centre. Guests sampled a variety of tastings from the NAV kitchen, amazing wines sponsored by CMG Innovations, along with beer, cider, and signature cocktails. Guests had the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items and win amazing prizes such as diamond earrings courtesy of Pommier Jewelers and designer wallets with a $1000 cash tucked inside from Welch LLP. One lucky winner went home with “Wine for a Year”; this prize included 52 bottles of wine from around the world and another lucky winner went home with “Beer for a year”; this prize included 12 different cases of beer, including local and craft beer. Both of these fabulous prizes were sponsored by Olsonfab Metal Fabrication. Live entertainment included David Jans touring the room and dazzling guests with his magic, and live music from the talented Kealey-Greer All-Star Band.

“Everyone was dressed up, the room was fabulous, the auction items were a hit; it was a night we won’t soon forget,” said Karen and Ray Brunet, United Way/Centraide SD&G Holiday Wine and Gourmet Event Chairs. “We are already excited to start planning for next year.”

To all of the sponsors, guests, partnered agencies, and volunteers:

We are truly blown away with your continued support of the United Way/Centraide of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry! We look forward to seeing you all next year!
