CHESTERVILLE — Ron Yuill, a rather new resident of Chesterville, scored a $5,000 shopping spree for North Dundas Building Supplies after entering the Great Canadian Home Renovation Contest online.
The contest divided the country into three regions — Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Quebec, and Western Canada. There were three prizes of $5,000 to be won — one per region.
It is not yet known just how many entries there were in total per region but of the 82 Ontario Castle locations 75 percent participated.
“It’s just so crazy that of all the stores in Ontario and Quebec that the winner of this contest came from our little town of Chesterville,” said co-owner of North Dundas Building Supplies, Stacy Duguay.
She explained how this news is so great for not only the store but the community as well.
Yuill and his wife Danielle just bought a house in town about a year and a half ago and are in the middle of renovations.
Ron was absolutely ecstatic about his win, “I had a few projects on the go and once I heard the news I put them on halt right away!”
The couple plans to put their winnings towards insulating their garage and finishing their basement.
“And if there’s any left over I might even put a new deck on the front of the house,” Ron continued.
“I’d really like a new front door too,” added Danielle.
Castle Building Centre hosts two national contests every year — The Fall Great Canadian Home Renovation Contest and the Spring Weekend Warrior.
Up for grabs during the Spring Warrior Weekend is a fishing boat, a tag-a-long camping trailer, and a motorcycle.
