NATION VALLEY — The South Nation River continues to experience higher than normal water levels, which is expected to drop in coming days based on current weather forecasts.
However, South Nation Conservation notes that current levels may yet cause nuisance flooding in low-lying areas. Caution is still advised when near watercourses as flows may rapidly increase and cause slippery or unstable banks. Residents are also advised to stay off all frozen bodies of water, parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.
The local watershed authority notes that ice thickness can change drastically in the current circumstances.
SNC’s statement is in effect until Tuesday, Jan. 28.
