Remembering Moose Creek’s storekeeper to generations: A visit with Claude Provost 100 years after the end of World War I

MOOSE CREEK — Shopkeeper Claude Provost’s time behind the counter of his country store in Moose Creek spanned 83 years when NVN visited the popular community icon in November 2018 — on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Claude Provost’s father, William, served in the Great War, and Claude himself, of course, went on to wear the uniform of the Cameron Highlanders in World War II.

He was 97 going on 98 years old at the time of this interview (see video below), passing away 14 months later, on Jan. 6, 2020.
