EASTERN ONTARIO — Last night’s snowfall means no school buses on the roads this morning in the region served by Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario.
Schools remain open at Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario schools. But at the Upper Canada District School Board, the Snow Day has aligned with a planned labour action by primary teachers with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. As a result, UCDSB schools are closed to students between kindergarten and Grade 8 but remain open for high school grades 9 through 12.
It’s the third consecutive day this week of labour action by teachers in the region — of one union or another — as they attempt to wrest a desired deal from the Ford government. They’ve been without a contract since last August.
