OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Service Central Investigations Unit has charged a man in relation to the theft of a shuttle van that led police in a short pursuit Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on March 9, police received a 911 call for a shuttle bus that had just been stolen. The driver reported that they had been coaxed out of the vehicle by a suspect who concocted a story to elicit help.

Frontline officers engaged in a pursuit of the shuttle van for a short time however, due to the risk to the public, the pursuit was terminated. In attempting to flee the scene, the shuttle bus collided with two other vehicles including a marked police vehicle.

A short time later, the shuttle bus was found abandoned in the 2000 block of Prince of Wales Drive. A man matching the description of the suspect was located by officers a short distance away from the abandoned vehicle.

  •       Possession of stolen property
  •       Dangerous operation of a conveyance
