Mass for late North Glengarry Councillor Mike Depratto to be announced at later date

NORTH GLENGARRY — The funeral mass for the late Mike Depratto — North Glengarry Township councillor and member of the Raisin Region Conservation Authority board — will be announced at a later date.

The 68-year-old passed away March 14, in “very sad news” acknowledged by Mayor Jamie MacDonald, who remembered his colleague for life-long service to his community. The former president of the local Lions Club, Alexandria Glens, Chamber of Commerce, Minor Hockey and Glengarry Soccer, “to name a few .. was a strong voice on council, and I relied on his opinion often,” the mayor said in a statement. “You will be missed Mike. Rest In Peace friend you are back with Cathy.”

Depratto was also serving as the current First Vice President of Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO).

In a statement released today, RRCA general manager Richard Pilon, describes the deceased as “a strong supporter of the RRCA … committed to managing and protecting our local natural resources.  Mike’s guidance and advice will be greatly missed by RRCA staff and fellow board members.”

The Alexandria resident died “surrounded by his family,” his obituary says.
