North Dundas Local Business Expo is cancelled

NORTH DUNDAS — The COVID-19 pandemic has kiboshed another event, as organizers have “regretfully” cancelled the 2020 Local Business Expo in Winchester.

The Expo’s fourth annual edition had been set for April 25 at the Joel Steele Community Centre.

In a joint statement, the Township of North Dundas and North Dundas Chamber of Commerce acknowledge the “uncertainty around the COVID-19 crisis and the daily escalation of measures arising from the ongoing pandemic have made planning for this popular event impractical.”

Despite “wishing to remain optimistic about the situation,” they have ruled out a mere postponement as “unrealistic” at this stage, making “cancellation … the unfortunate course of action.”

They say a process for reimbursing exhibitors is being developed, with the goal of issuing those refunds within two weeks.

The popular annual Expo typically drew 1,000 or more people to see nearly 100 exhibitors at the Winchester-based arena building.
