Two stolen cars recovered and charges laid after traffic stop near Lancaster

LANCASTER — Members of the SG&G OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Highway Safety Division (HSD) recovered two stolen vehicles and arrested two suspects. 

SD&G OPP officers, assisted by the Street Crime Unit, attempted to stop the stolen vehicles on Highway 401 eastbound near Lancaster around 10 a.m. on March 29. One vehicle stopped, while the other attempted to flee. It was stopped a short time later when it entered the ditch. The investigation confirmed that the vehicles had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Toronto.

Jordi Gonzalez-Oviedo, 26, and Andre Ferreria-De Deus, 25, both of Montreal, Quebec are charged with Possession of Stolen Property Exceeding $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

They have been released from custody with scheduled court appearances June 3, in Alexandria court.
