COVID-19 case number rises to 44 in EOHU area; three now hospitalized, with two in ICU

CORNWALL — Eastern Ontario Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis again emphasized the importance of the public staying home and observing physical distancing etiquette in his latest media briefing on the COVID-19 crisis.

The number of positive cases rose from the low 30s on the weekend to 44 as of yesterday evening, the doctor also reported. That includes one new person on a ventilator in Cornwall, bringing the intensive-care cases to two in the region. A third person is also in hospital in Cornwall, but not in ICU, according to Roumeliotis.
