Gilberte “Betty” Benjamin
Mothers are angels in training. Betty (Gilberte) Benjamin (nee Clement) received her wings April 6, as she was welcomed at the gates of heaven.
Her kind and gentle way toward her fellow beings will remain as gifts bestowed upon so many. Her ever open ear for those who needed to “ring out the sponge” and have no judgement and the open arms for those who just needed a hug will remain in our hearts as lights when we face dark days. Her unrelenting strength and guidance challenged us to be better people and to forgive those we thought wronged us. Her ability to laugh at life and herself, taught us to be patient with ourselves and others, for we do not know their load. Her calm and peaceful soul is the gifts she shared with the world, may we all strive to do the same. For those whose paths she shared along her journey, you will forever have the memories you made together.
Betty’s son Thomas Benjamin and daughter Kathleen Larocque, grandchildren and great-grandchildren joined by their extended family are deeply saddened to share this message of peaceful passing in Chesterville. May her spirit forever surround us.
Due to Coronavirus restrictions a mass to honour Betty will be held at St. Mary of the Presentation Roman Catholic Church, Chesterville at a later date. A reception will follow. Donations to Dundas County Hospice or Muscular Dystrophy Canada would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. If you are making your donation online or by cheque directly to the charity, please include the following note with your gift “please notify the family”. Online condolences may be made at marsdenmclaughlin.com.
