First ‘Business Virtual Town Hall’ draws big Zoom audience

SOUTH MOUNTAIN — MP Eric Duncan and MPP Jim McDonell’s first Business Community Virtual Town Hall drew over 125 participants to the Zoom session, where the landscaping and mowing industry emerged as a popular topic.

McDonell confirmed, however, that landscapers and grass-cutters are indeed shut down as “non-essential,” but Cornwall Mayor Bernadette Clement urged a respite for that industry. Eastern Ontario Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis also addressed that subject and many others during the meeting.

Organizers plan on holding further sessions to keep the local business community apprised of developments and the latest government programs and policies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
