CHESTERVILLE — The COVID-19 pandemic kept the Chesterville Rotary Club from releasing their flock of rubber duckies on the South Nation River this past Saturday.
Instead, the Peter van Kessel Memorial Duck Race went ahead as a draw, with Club President John Stewart pulling the winners from a pot, assisted by his wife and fellow club member, Beate.
In first place was the holder of ticket 478 — Robin Portieous of Morrisburg.
In second place was the holder of ticket 486 — Chris Sommerville of Chesterville.
In third place was the holder of ticket 740 — Anik Lafleche of Moose Creek.
The charitable fundraiser raised $2,880. It’s named in honour of the late Peter van Kessel Sr., a former Rotarian who always sold the greatest number of tickets for the annual event.
