Ontario Agriculture Minister featured guest in virtual farming townhall with McDonell and Duncan

STORMONT-DUNDAS-SOUTH GLENGARRY — Ontario Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Ernie Hardemen was the featured guest of MPP Jim McDonell and MP Eric Duncan in their latest Zoom townhall session during the COVID-19 crisis.

The live meeting ran until just after 9 p.m., April 27. Watch the stream above.

The minister also told Nation Valley News that she does meet regularly with the Trudeau government’s “inner cabinet,” and that the fruits and vegetables sector is “a little behind the curve” in the number of crucial foreign temporary workers landed in Canada for that point in the season — although the government is working with that industry to ensure enough of those workers arrive here from places like Mexico and Guatemala. The minister wasn’t quite ready to suggest that Canadians plant their own gardens, assuring enough food will be supplied through regular channels.
