17-year-old assaults police officer with vehicle and faces 13 additional charges

NORTH DUNDAS — A SD&G OPP Community Street Crime officer intercepted a vehicle on Howard street in Chesterville, around 10 a.m. on May 12. The 17-year-old driver then became combative with the officer resisting arrest and assaulting the officer with his motor vehicle as he put it into motion during the arrest, the vehicle then struck the unmarked police vehicle the arresting officer was driving. The officer sustained minor injuries. The accused also had break-in instruments within his vehicle and stolen licence plates.

A 17-year-old of North Dundas, was arrested and is charged with;

– Eight counts of Failure to Comply with release order (CCC)

– Six counts of Failure to Comply with Sentence or Disposition YCJA

– Resist Peace Officer

– Assault with Intent to resist arrest

– Assault a peace officer with a weapon

– Dangerous Drive

– Possession Break In Instruments

– Two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

– Possession of Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

– Two counts of Mischief Under $5,000 

– Drive motor vehicle – Cannabis readily available ( CCA)

– Person under 19 years – possess cannabis (CCA)

– Drive motor vehicle – no licence (HTA)

– Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner ( HTA)

– Use plates not authorized for vehicle (HTA)

– Operate motor vehicle without insurance ( CAIA)

The accused was held in custody (bail) and scheduled to appear in Cornwall.
