Drugs seized during traffic stop
SOUTH STORMONT – A Highway Safety OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401 shortly after 6:45 a.m. on May 15, South Stormont. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine from the passengers. Further investigation revealed both passengers were breaching previous release conditions.
Frank Benedict, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – cocaine
– Fail to comply with conditions of a release order
– Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order
Doug Anderson, 36, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – cocaine
– Fail to comply with conditions of a release order
– Obstruct Peace officer
Both were released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall on July 24.
Theft charges laid
SOUTH GLENGARRY – SD&G OPP responded to a report of a theft at a business in South Glengarry, shortly before 8 p.m. on May 18.
Investigation indicated that the culprit attended the location and removed a cellphone at the location.
Frederick Tremblay, 27, of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Theft under $5000
– Two counts of Failure to comply with conditions of a release order
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to a court appearance in Alexandria on August 5.
