SOUTH GLENGARRY – A 35-year-old was charged with numerous driving infractions after SD&G OPP conducted a traffic stop at the Grey’s Creek Park in South Glengarry shortly after 11 p.m. on June 5.
Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver then refused to complete standard testing requested by the officers. Further investigation revealed the driver had his driving privileges disqualified for a previous driving offence.
The passenger in the vehicle was in contravention of previous release conditions.
The driver, Steven Mitchell, of Cornwall, was arrested and is charged with;
– Obstruct Peace officer
– Failure or refusal to comply with demand
– Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking
– Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
– Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
The passenger, Tania Derochie, 39, of Cornwall, was arrested and is charged with;
– Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking
Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on September 2.
