22-year-old Cornwall resident dies in 401 crash

SOUTH DUNDAS — A Cornwall man has been identified as the person killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 yesterday evening.

The SD&G OPP reports the deceased as 22-year-old Richard Hesse-Andre, passenger in a westbound vehicle that, for reasons still under investigation, collided with tractor trailer headed in the same direction. Police responded to the scene between Dickinson Rd. and Upper Canada Rd. shortly before 5 p.m., June 18.

A second passenger aboard the same vehicle as the deceased suffered serious injuries, while the driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The involved section of Highway 401 was reopened to traffic shortly after 3 a.m.
