Man caught stealing items from vehicles at Morrisburg ONroute; criminal harassment charge

MORRISBURG — A stolen car was recovered after witnesses called police shortly after 7 a.m. on June 13, about a male attempting to steal items out of vehicles at the Morrisburg ONroute on Highway 401 eastbound. Police say when witnesses confronted the accused he fled into a wooded area. Once confronted by witnesses the accused fled into a wooded area. The accused was located shortly after by SD&G OPP officers with the assistance of the OPP K9 Unit. Further investigation revealed the accused was in possession of a stolen car from Montreal.

Simon Brabant, 39, of Montreal, was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

– Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on September 1.

 

Criminal Harassment 

SOUTH STORMONT SD&G OPP were called to a Long Sault residence on Long Sault Dr. shortly after 9:30 a.m. on June 12, regarding a domestic situation. According to police an adult had been harassing an ex. 

A 52-year-old from South Stormont, was arrested and is charged with;               

–             Criminal Harassment – beset and watch complainant

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on August 18. The name of the accused person is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
