BERWICK — North Stormont Council met yesterday evening, Sept. 8, 2020. A highlight on the agenda was the issue of a potential bylaw compelling the installation of automatic fire suppression equipment in the turbines being constructed as part of the Nation Rise project. (Council voted 3-2 to receive CAO Craig Calder’s report in which he states he “cannot recommend” introducing such a bylaw “at this time.”)
The meeting also saw local Upper Canada District School Board trustee John Danaher’s presentation on the return of students to school, a revelation on the amount spent to date on integrity commissioner investigations, and receipt of a report by Palmer Douglas and Austin Winters into accessibility standards on the township website.
