EMBRUN — MPP Francis Drouin and Russell Township Mayor Pierre Leroux (resplendent in a pink suit for the occasion) assisted ‘Friends for Life’ members — led by Marie-Claire Ivanski — in raising the Breast Cancer Awareness flag at Russell Township headquarters this afternoon.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
At this year’s ceremony, Ivanski highlighted that men, too, can get breast cancer. Although they constituted a small minority of cases, approximately 220 Canadian men were diagnosed with the disease last year. About 60 men die annually of breast cancer.
