CLARENCE—ROCKLAND — Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into a motorcycle crash that left the lone rider with non-life-threatening injuries after fleeing a Russell County OPP officer.
The detachment says the Oct. 3 incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Raymond Street when the officer noticed the motorcycle stopped by the side of the road and attempted to speak with the operator. The motorcyclist fled at the officer’s approach, then crashed in what police describe as a single-vehicle collision. The rider was transported to hospital.
The SIU is called in to investigate when police officers are connected with incidents of injury or death.
