HAWKESBURY – The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital’s COVID-19 Assessment has reopened this morning, following a day of closure.
The Centre was temporarily shut yesterday in preparation for the elimination of walk-in service and the adoption of appointment-based testing.
The province announced last week that all assessment centres would switch to testing by appointment exclusively, as lineups of people and cars grew too long outside such facilities.
“Transitioning to an appointment-based testing will allow us to conduct enhanced screening in accordance with the province’s updated testing guidance. It will also increase staff and patient safety, and reduce wait times when visiting an assessment centre, preventing people from having to line up outside in the cold for many hours,” said Imrana Jeoffrey, Vice-President, Ambulatory Care, Quality and Performance at HGH.
