Now 35 cases at Prescott and Russell Residence

HAWKESBURY — The COVID-19 outbreak at Prescott and Russell Residence now totals 35 individuals — 27 residents and eight employees.

The Residence has now received all of the results of the testing conducted last Friday, October 9, according to the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR), which operates the institution.

Prior to the latest update from the UCPR, the case tally at the Hawkesbury-based long-term care facility had stood at 25 — 17 residents and eight employees — as test results continued to arrive.

Testing of everyone at the Residence was initiated after one person tested positive last week, triggering outbreak status and protocols at the nursing home.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit region is also dealing with an outbreak at The Palace Retirement Community, an Alexandria retirement home.
