HAWKESBURY — Two more residents of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell’s nursing home succumbed yesterday to COVID-19.
“The UCPR extends its sincere sympathies to the families of the residents,” the municipality said in an update yesterday confirming the two new fatalities.
The loss brings the total number of resident deaths to three at the Hawkesbury-based long-term care home since an outbreak began two weeks ago.
Sixteen people have now died from COVID-19 in the Eastern Ontario Health Unit region since the start of the pandemic, all them residents of two nursing homes except for a recent death recorded at an Alexandria retirement home.
The Prescott and Russell Residence is currently grappling with the largest single COVID-19 outbreak seen in the EOHU region.
